Now that we have officially hit the halfway mark of your 23rd birthday, it is time for a quick midday check-in. I hope your day is going wonderfully so far. We have already logged two and a half amazing years together, but I am particularly excited about the next twelve hours. A Letter
Happy 23rd Birthday! It feels completely surreal that we are already celebrating your special day alongside three amazing years together. I love how you navigate the world with such a spontaneous, live-in-the-moment energy. Your sense of humor constantly keeps me on my toes, and being around you makes every single day brighter, lighter, and infinitely more fun.
Thinking back to how we started always makes me smile. We were just two university students on the same course, and I was supposed to be the wise, responsible class mentor from the year above. Looking back, it is pretty clear that you ended up teaching me way more about life and happiness than I ever taught you about our coursework. I knew back in those classrooms that you were someone incredibly special.
Since those early uni days, our routine has become my absolute favorite place to be. Whether we are sneaking into our seats at the cinema or hunting down our next favorite spot to eat, everyday moments are just better with you. But my greatest joy is whenever we decide to dance. Neither of us has a shred of rhythm or coordination, but flailing around and laughing terribly with you to the music is exactly where I always want to be.
As you turn 23, I just want you to know how deeply I love you and how grateful I am to be your partner in crime. Because you love to live right in the present, I won't write a heavy essay analyzing the distant future. Happy 24th Birthday! I decided to write this a whole year ago just to leave a fun surprise for your future self. It is wild to think we are now officially celebrating your 24th birthday and on our fourth year together!
